Richard Garvey

Mr. Garvey, a native New Orleanian, has been practicing law for more than 30 years. He has extensive experience in the areas of insurance defense, automobile liability defense, commercial litigation, trucking liability defense, medical malpractice defense, plaintiff’s cases in a variety of settings, toxic tort defense, elevator and escalator liability defense, railroad liability defense, defense of professional architects and engineers, and asbestos litigation defense.

After achieving a degree in engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, Mr Garvey worked as an electrical engineer for several years. Mr. Garvey then went to Loyola University School of Law, graduating in 1991, and began practicing law at several firms in southeast Louisiana.

Mr. Garvey has handled all aspects of case practice, from the filing of initial pleadings, through the discovery process, trial preparation and trial, and the appellate process.

Mr. Garvey has argued cases in numerous district courts across the state of Louisiana, both state and federal. He has also argued in various Louisiana appellate state courts, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
