Jim Donelon

Jim Donelon served as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Louisiana from 2006-2024,
making him the longest-serving Commissioner of Insurance in the state’s history. His insight into
and understanding of the industry’s operations and concerns position Middleberg Riddle Group
clients for long-term insight in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

On a national basis, Jim advises insurance companies, agencies, producers, and other industry
participants on a wide range of corporate, operational, and regulatory concerns. From
transactions to licensing to enforcement matters and everything in between, Jim brings his
considerable knowledge counseling clients on matters of state and federal law that involve
insurance issues.

Through his decades of policy making and regulation of insurance, he has seen the industry adapt
and respond to market changes stemming from the environment, social climate, and healthcare.
As the industry continues to evolve, he has a unique perspective about the impact of insurance
matters.

In his position as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in
2013, he became a respected and valued voice in insurance discussions nationwide and guided
Louisiana through a number of deadly disasters, ranging from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav,
Ike, Isaac, Laura, Delta, Zeta and Ida as well as the COVID-19 pandemic
