Sonia Mallett, a member in our Baton Rouge office, is admitted to practice in Louisiana, before all Federal courts in Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court. Prior to joining MRG, Ms. Mallett, for sixteen years, represented the interests of the State of Louisiana, first with the Louisiana Department of Justice then with the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS). Her practice with the firm focuses on areas of health care law, insurance regulatory law, general corporate law and commercial litigation matters in State and Federal courts.

Ms. Mallett was born in Jennings, Louisiana in 1960 and is a longtime resident of the Baton Rouge area. Immediately prior to joining the firm in 2007, she served as Executive Counsel for LASERS. Before joining LASERS she served the Louisiana Department of Justice for fourteen years, the last several years as Special Litigation Counsel of the Litigation Division. While at the Department of Justice she represented the interests of the State in numerous State and Federal civil actions. In 2005 she was appointed to the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, Tort and Liability and Risk Management Committee and served until 2007.
Ms. Mallett has taught at several CLE programs for the Louisiana Department of Justice in various areas. She has also taught at several International Traffic Records Forums and Louisiana Transportation Engineering Conferences in the area of 23 USC Sec. 409. She was an instructor for eight years in the are of Civil Litigation in the paralegal program at Baton Rouge College.
